You've been building a case — in your head, in a conversation, maybe in a document you haven't sent yet — and it sounds airtight. Mercury square Jupiter is live right now, and there's one thing you're overestimating. You don't know which part yet.
Your ruler Mercury sits at 15° Scorpio, locked in a square with Jupiter at 21° Leo — a friction point between the precise, probing mind you're using and the urge to go bigger, bolder, more certain than the facts actually warrant. The Moon, also in Scorpio and lit at just 8%, adds a layer of emotional undercurrent to everything Mercury is processing. Meanwhile, Sun sextile Jupiter offers a genuine window of confidence — the risk is mistaking that warmth for permission to skip the fine print.
Mercury square Jupiter is the transit of the convincing pitch with a hole in it. Not a fatal hole — but one that will matter later if you don't find it first. Your ruler is in Scorpio right now, which means your thinking is deep, thorough, and a little obsessive. The problem isn't the depth. The problem is Jupiter in Leo expanding the conclusion before the investigation is finished. You've landed somewhere and started defending it, when the work of actually arriving there isn't quite done.
This shows up differently for different Geminis. For some of you it's a proposal, a plan, a creative direction you've already emotionally committed to. For others it's a conversation you've rehearsed so many times that you've stopped checking whether it's still accurate. The Scorpio placement of Mercury means the stakes feel high and personal — which is exactly why overconfidence is the shadow here. The bigger the feeling, the more urgently you want certainty, and Jupiter is more than happy to supply the sensation of it.
Here's the useful edge in this transit: Mercury in Scorpio is genuinely capable of catching the flaw if you let it. The square creates friction, and friction, used deliberately, is a diagnostic tool. Before you send the thing, say the thing, commit to the thing — run it through one more pass. Not to tear it down. Just to make sure the structure holds the weight you're about to put on it. That's the difference between a big swing that lands and a big swing that embarrasses you in front of the wrong people.
A generous read of someone's behavior might be shading into a convenient one — Scorpio Mercury wants the truth more than the comfort.
The pitch or plan is strong, but one assumption inside it is doing more load-bearing work than it should; find it before someone else does.
Confidence borrowed from Jupiter's warmth is still borrowed — check that your certainty is actually earned today.
““Mercury afflicted by Jupiter inclines the native to promise more than he can perform, and to mistake the largeness of a thought for the soundness of it.””
TranslationLilly is describing exactly today's square: the mind inflated by optimism, not malice. Your job isn't to shrink the idea — it's to make sure the idea can carry the confidence you're already giving it.
Before you send, submit, or speak the thing you've been building, write down the one assumption inside it that you've never tested — just name it, even privately.
